Click the thumbnails for larger images Garret Wang was not originally scheduled to appear at Trek Expo 2001. He was called in as a last-minute replacement for Kate Mulgrew, who had a family emergency. Ensign/Captain Harry Kim, Star Trek: Voyager Garret signs a few autographs before his speech. Garret Wang was, perhaps, the most entertaining con guest I've ever seen. He talked about the show and his convention experiences with much enthusiasm and humor. He would often imitate the voices of his fellow Voyager cast members. His one-hour session flew by and he had a lot more to say. He promised to try to come back for Trek Expo 2002 if he was invited... which I think he should be. Don't miss an opportunity to see him if he comes to a convention near you... and be sure to ask him about the fart wars. At the start of his speech, he posed for each area of the audience. The second picture is the one he gave to the right side of the stage... the action pose. Then, he did something I've never seen... he hopped off stage and walked around the audience so everyone would have an opportunity to get a good picture. A few candid shots during his speech. My wife wanted to attend Trek Expo with me but ended up being ill and laid up with a sprained ankle. After his speech and near the end of the convention, I ducked behind his table and asked if he would say hello to my wife, whom I had just called moments before. That's my phone he's talking on. If you don't believe me, check out the mpeg of the last 15 seconds of the phone call.
Garret Wang is a true fan's actor. Thank you for everything, Garret!
